Enquiries and jobs
Link a customer to a job
Updated
A job needs a linked customer before it can move past New — quotes are addressed to someone, and invoices need a name on them. Emailed enquiries usually arrive with the customer already linked; jobs you add yourself sometimes don't.
Steps
- Open the job. If no customer is linked, the Customer section reads "No customer linked yet."
- Tap Link customer.
- Enter the customer's Name. Email and Phone are optional, but the email matters — see below.
- Tap Save.
The Customer section now shows their details, and the job's status buttons unlock.
Avoiding duplicates
There's no customer search in this dialog — grafter.ly matches on email. If the email you type matches an existing customer, that customer is linked instead of a new one being created. If you leave the email out, a new customer record is always created — so for a repeat customer, either include their email, or start from their page: open Customers, pick them, and tap New job there. That job is linked from the start.
What linking changes
- The job can now move through the stages: quote, booking, invoice, paid.
- Sending a quote emails the customer directly, if they have an email on file.
- The work address form offers the customer's address as a starting point.
